I randomly started going through old photos of the house with my mom tonight. It’s crazy to look back at how much has changed in the past 3 years. I have so many “before & afters” I’ve wanted to share here but I keep wanting to wait until each room is completely “finished.” But, who am I kidding? I’ll never be completely finished with any room. There’s always going to be a new project I want to start or something I want to change. My new 2016 “mantra” has been reminding myself to appreciate and enjoy what I already have, and stop focusing on what we haven’t done, improved, or added. So!…in the spirit of that, I wanted to start sharing the work we’ve done around here so far and just how much things have changed since we first moved in. Starting with this room…we will call the “sitting room” (for lack of a better word:)

Sitting Room Before

A really awkward panoramic view from the first week we moved in. We had zero furniture between the both of us! It was kind of fun to start from scratch and pick out pieces together:)

Sitting Room After

Sitting Room After These were both from this past fall, after we finally got our new ikea couch & ottoman! This room had been completely empty for over 2 years and these pieces were the final additions to the space. It was a very exciting day at the bungalow;)

This is what this room currently looks like:)

Crazy what some new furniture and fresh paint can do! The biggest thing we did was rip out the carpet and refinished the hardwood floors underneath. They were original to our 1900s house and I really wanted to salvage them even if it meant lots of patching and installing in one section. Other than the obvious new furniture & decor, we switched out lighting fixtures, hardware & window treatments to better suite our style. Painting all the trim white really changed the entire look of the room as well.

These were all photos taken from my Instagram, but I’m planning on adding more from different angles with a better (non iphone) camera;) We have a couple more projects in store for this room and I can’t wait to keep you all posted on the progress!

Thanks for visiting!

xoxo Layla
